Taking Manufacturing Operations to The Next Level

Challenge

A global aerospace client was struggling to produce enough aircraft galleys to meet the demands of their customer. The galley assembly process involved a lot of non-repeatable manual processes and a large labor force in a high-cost geography. The company had to utilize a lot of overtime and expedited shipping to be able to keep up with their customer’s demand. 

Solution

We conducted a Value Stream Mapping exercise to understand the current state process. We obtained detailed time study data of the current state and then facilitated a gap analysis and solutioning session with key stakeholders. We then created an ideal future-state process. We ran simulations to quantify the before and after results. We achieved an 76% throughput improvement and a yearly cost savings of over $3 Million which allowed our client to easily meet their customer’s demand.

We conducted detailed Business Process Mapping / Modeling sessions across the Project Management Office (PMO) of a large telecommunications company to uncover an average of 45% low-value activities that could be eliminated, simplified, reengineered, or automated.

Challenge

A large telecommunications company was looking to reduce low-value activities amongst their Portfolio Managers and Program Managers by a significant margin.

Solution

We helped the company by taking their existing data and analyzing it to select the highest-value processes to improve. We conducted Business Process mapping sessions of the current state, followed by gap analysis and solutioning. We then moved onto developing countermeasures, defining the ideal future state and creating an improvement roadmap. We then led five workstreams to implement the new processes. We were able to improve costs by around $500k / year in the PMO.
